Behind the Blog & the Seam

As a blogger…

This is one of my all time favorites…  “This is all we need. A couple of smokes, a cup of coffee, and a little bit of conversation. You, me and five bucks.” – Dazed & Confused

Being a mommy of 4, a student and a runner takes up almost all of my time BUT I tend to have something lacking at the end of the day still.  An outlet.  A place where I can be me again.  Not mommy…not wife…not maid…not carpooler…just me.

My Shop…

After leaving my job in New Jersey, I struggled to find a way to keep myself busy and mind going.  Then Christmas 2008 came along and my mom bought me a Janome Mini sewing machine.  Finally something!  I started off small and before I knew it I was sewing my wedding dress!  For a good year and a half I sat back and did little fun projects for family and friends but I was running out of ideas.  So after my daughter was born I decided to start sharing my creativity with the world!  On May 21, 2010, Nicole Michelle’s Creations was created!  I love every minute of what I do!  I’m my own boss and a stay at home mom.  I have the two greatest jobs in the world!

Shop Military Spouse Made…

Right when my shop was becoming all kinds of crazy busy I decided that I really wanted to take out a little time and try to share the wealth with my fellow military spouses running their own businesses.  Being an outsider of the military for part of my adult life I never really truly understood how much harder it could be.  I mean come on…they get health insurance, housing, etc.  It’s all taken care of just like that.  And that’s where I was wrong…it’s not just like that.  Nothing is ever just like that.  There’s a price to pay for everything given in this life.  These people who I am proudly one of now struggle with events no one ever thinks of.  Deployments, in the field, classes, training…and that’s only the tip of the iceberg.  They run households by themselves and fully function while their spouse is owned by the military.  My husband is first the Marine Corp’s and then mine.  I get it…now.  Hopefully my little page can help my fellow spouses have a little extra. Give them an order to work on to let their mind escape their thoughts if even just for a minute.
