Be-You-Tifully Fit: Here we go!

It’s go time.  I have done all that I can do to prepare.  I have put in the training hours.  The blood.  The sweat.  The tears.  I have broke down and built back up.  Now there’s only one thing left.  Do the dang thing.

As I was working on transitions in the driveway, I began to ask all of my friends who have done this before… What is that one thing you would’ve done better, remembered, left out?  Here’s what I got…

  • Garmin
  • Sunscreen
  • Change of clothes
  • Post race fuel
  • 5 gallon bucket

Swim

  • Swim cap
  • 2 pairs goggles
  • 2 towels (one bright colored)
  • Wetsuit
  • Vaseline

Bike

  • Bike
  • Helmet
  • Sunglasses
  • Shoes
  • Powder
  • Body glide
  • Water bottle
  • Fuel (in a ziploc)
  • Tire pump
  • Arm sleeves

Run

  • Hat
  • Bib belt
  • Handheld water bottle
  • Fuel


Tips from friends

  1. Powder in shoes
  2. Stop drinking 2 hours prior
  3. Body glide under the tri short leg bands
  4. Run without socks to save time
  5. Get to know the courses for turns
  6. Try to get a spot on the end of the rack in the transition area
  7. Bright colored towel on your bike will help you spot it in transition area
  8. Carry everything in the 5 gallon bucket, flip over for a seat and if raining, use to flip over & keep it all dry
  9. Fuel on bike ride so it has time to digest before the run
  10. Finally… Less is more in transition area
