Fit & Frugal: DIY Dishwasher Tabs

Lately, we’ve been trying to find the best ways to cut the cost of our grocery bigger dollar items to make room for our healthier eating wants and splurges.  First we switched over to using a laundry sauce.  It’s much nicer on my kids’ skin and I feel like it cleans my clothes much better plus…about $12-15 for a years worth versus the $12-15 we spent a month…total win!

This week we gave these a try after running out of dishwasher tabs and not wanting to buy another $8 box.  They came out great…after my oops!  I didn’t think of how full the ice cube tray should be in order for the tab to fit in my dishwasher compartment.  LOL!  Cut them all in half after the fact and been using them ever since.  Love it!!

“Here’s all the ingredients you need – 1 cup borax, 1 cup washing soda, 1 cup vinegar and 2 tablespoons lemon juice concentrate.  All this stuff can be found at Walmart or grocery stores.  It should cost you less than $10 for the supplies, but they will last you months and months and produce several batches of tablets.  You’re going to save so much money!” – The Makeshift Nest
