Chasing my Fit: Beast to Beauty

20140427-201442.jpgMy first mud run!  I am so sore from that experience.  I did not think that a person that has overcome the soreness feeling after a half marathon could feel the soreness this much from a 5 mile mud run!  HOLY MOLEY!  I have a whole new respect for them. This was a ton of steep hills, mud to pull yourself through up to your chest and 5 miles to top it off. It wasn’t at all what I expected (more like obstacles…wall climbing or something). But let me tell you…I’m SORE! I ran up every hill (or crawled depending on the steepness & mud). Ran with what felt like 10 extra pounds caked on me. And experienced something so awesome…random strangers helping you through. This poor girl was stuck…like foot completely suctioned in while in mud at our waists. I was holding her one arm helping her pull while 2 other people were trying to wiggle her leg out. I didn’t care that her mud covered arm was around my shoulders. And she was so thankful. Later on I was trying to go up a slippery steep hill. Adrian was in front of me to try to get footing to help me up but then this guy behind me was actually helping me find the footing on my own. He kept yelling to Adrian, “it’s alright…I won’t let her fall”. Honestly…it was a lot of fun but in what I got to see with random acts of kindness and encouragement…made all the mud worth it. I love the race community so much for moments like these.
